Welcome to the COST Action 735 website

In June 2006 a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) was approved and signed by the COST Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) in Brussels. The MOU provides the operational basis for research into the primary aim of COST 735; "To develop tools for assessing global air-sea fluxes of climate and air pollution relevant gases". Under the COST Action 735 program, an estimated 60 million EUR of research activity has been devoted over the five year duration of the program. To date 17 countries have signed on to the agreement and are collaborating in this joint effort to quantitatively evaluate the air-sea fluxes which have a great influence on the earths climate.

The COST Action 735 framework seeks to facilitate the knowledge sharing of the independent research projects around Europe and work towards common goals as a collective. The COST 735 framework defines three Working Groups which identify areas of pressing importance in furthering our understanding of how the air-sea interaction affects the earths climate. Each of these working groups have specific aims and work towards developing air-sea flux products. For further information on these Working Groups click here.

Cost Action 735 also has links to a number of projects around the world which seek to monitor global climate change. This framework of scientists and research organisations are fundamental to COST 735 function and COST 735 has taken advantage of existing databases held at various organisations in order to achieve its Working Group objectives.
